Rocky Ford- The Yakima River is blown out below the Cle Elum River confluence, so we headed east to find some fishable water. Tim and Jeffrey enjoyed sight casting to those big rainbows. Jeff fought two that were in the 25-26″ range before they came unbuttoned. We landed a few between 20″ and 23″ as well asfour in the 16″ to 19″ range. We were getting fish on dry flies and nymphs in the morning then in the afternoon it was mainly a nymph game. Light tippet is crucial, these fish have such a long time to analyze the fly before taking it. I recommend fishing 5x or 6x flourocarbon. Flies: #14-18 olive scud, #16-18 orange scud, #16-18 pink scud, #16-18 FB Pheasant Tail (no bead head), #18 PMD nymph, #18 Lightning bug, #18-22 para-midge, #18-20 black Trico
